For Marie (and Catherine) such action fed the flames of libel against them.Marie Antionette was known to go riding astride with her husband's grandfather, Louis XV, and this portrait of her was modeled after one of Louis XIV.(Yes, Marie was said to have had the "Hapsburg jaw." But I should think she inherited a fine sense of horsemanship!)
I rad the novel "Marie Antoinette" from Stefan Zweig. It became one of my favorite books!
