Spanish Riding School Medal

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? It's a Spanish Riding School Medal, about 3" x 3" (7.62cm x 7.62cm). Maker mark "FK" in a circle, which I have seen before on other SRS items.

The seller told me that it came from an estate sale and that the previous owner claimed it was from the early 1900s.

Yes, I purchased it on eBay. I really, REALLY hope I wasn't bidding against any of you :)

Anyhow, if you have any information, please share.

Oh, but PLEASE do not post anything on Facebook about it. I bought it as a birthday present for my husband and he'll see. It's a surprise. He collects stuff like this.

Thanks

Eileen

ETA: added two more pictures.

Siglavy Pastime in capriole

Sometimes you browse.... looking for something completely different.... and then, occasionally, you find something which makes you smile !

Please enjoy the starting caprioles of Siglavy Pastime, proudly bred and owned by Kirsch-Lipizzaner in Germany. Just like his sire Siglavy Perla in the SRS did, he appears to perform a beautiful air!

Congratulations Ilona ! ;-)

PS
Siglavy Pastime is a half brother to SRS solo-stallion Neapolitano Pastime. And of our own Maestoso Pastime (the one with those manes...)

Manolo Mendez Article

Below is a link to a well written Manolo Mendez article articulating his position why a horse should be ridden in a supple and tension free way. He articulates his case from a biomechanical viewpoint using non-technical terms and illustrative examples to tie classical principals to biomechanics. He also provides general training tips, an exercise to assess balance and suppleness and discusses what he looks for in the way horses travel and carry themselves in determining the quality of the work.

The article does a good job balancing removing jargon while still having substance.

"The Lucky Foal of Piber"

Yesterday the Austrian national television ORF  visited the Federal Stud of Piber, on the occasion of the birth of a very special Lipizzaner foal: a black filly

"Only 1 out of 100 foals remains black"

Stud manager Dr.Max Dobretsberger:
"The foal has a perfect frame, beautiful lines, long legs, and a fabulous charisma. So: much nobility for which the Lipizzaner of Piber are famous of.

Sire of this foal is the bay Pluto Bellornata.
Dam is 42 Beja (s. Siglavy Dagmar) - grandchild of the Topolcianky-mare 84 Mora
