New Year's Day in Vienna Concert to show Spanish Riding School on US broadcast

Hello,

If any US admirers of the Spanish Riding School are home on New Year's day, I understand that the School will be featured on the PBS "Great Performances" broadcast from Vienna of the New Year's Day Strauss concert. The concert will be broadcast live on many NPR stations earlier in the day, but the telecast, which is supposed to show the School, will be telecast in the evening.

I remember the School was shown on this annual telecast in the past too.

A great way to launch the new year--a year in which the Spanish Riding School will return to the United States! I look forward to the fall tour and seeing Andreas and friends again!

Queen Beatrix and Rotterdam !!!

We had our first performance yesterday in Rotterdam.

Beatrix, the Queen of the Netherlands, was present. I had the pleasure to sit next to her and answer her questions during the performance.

Her Majesty is unbelievable nice and friendly. We chatted about Den Haag, where she resides. She rides once a week one of her horses there. She is riding a mare currently, but I forgot the breed. She also keeps Frisians for carriage driving. An unforgatable evening for me.

Sitting in my hotel in Rotterdam, thinking of what happened last week in Paris.

Thank you for sharing the  beautiful series pix of   [ my  SRS 'Lieblingspferd, ' ]

"Baso" taken at Piber.  I was out there in September.  If he had been at liberty in the paddock next to my room at "Bardels," an entire  team of elephants couldn't have dragged me away.  At least I got to tickle Mantua's nose on my visit....just like the legendary S. Mantua Eins,  BASO has something special about him. He is so graceful and intelligent. Years  ago,  I used to look down in admiration  at Baso thru the window at the Stallburg,  who   in those days,  I remember seeing being groomed  by Marcus  Nowotny, who is now a Bereiter.  It seems such  a shame that since the Stallburg modernisation, the viewing window has been lost....

 

I am sure that Hausi, naturally,   is blown away by these pictures of one of his long time companions. Wow !!!      Thank you Atjan, you have made my day !

 

Q. -  For Hausi and Atjan, Jorie and anyone else there...from the SRS rider and from  the observers point of view,  how was the grand event in Paris this weekend ?  Enjoy Rotterdam next  weekend...you lucky devils !!!

Alfred Knopfhart wurde am 20. April 1927 geboren, studierte Wirtschaftswissenschaften und widmete sich Zeit seines Lebens seiner Leidenschaft, dem Reitsport.
Als internationaler Richter, Ausbildner, Reitlehrer und Buchautor wird uns Alfred Knopfhart in Erinnerung bleiben.

Paris! Les Quatre Ecoles d'Art Equestre - who is going?

Les Quatre Ecoles d'Art Equestre is right around the corner!

Who is going to this? It would be wonderful to meet others from the list who will be there - should we try to get together for a little while?

I arrive the morning of Saturday Nov 24 and am attending the Saturday and Sunday performances. After that, I'm going on to Rotterdam for the last performances in the SRS tour.

MoreForward, another friend and I are rooming together near the Bercy. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.

Can't wait for this amazing event! :-)
