New restaurant in Vienna

Look what I found! It is a recent picture, from March 2009!  Andreas did not tell us!

I am curious what the menu brings. As a starter Suppa Capriola? Followed by Steak Piber with Lipizzaner knödel? Definitely ended with a piece of Sacher Torte ?   And a Wiener Melange.

Herr Oberbereiter! Two white wine please!  (Yes, Conversano Dagmar, of course...what else?)

  1. It was an event at the school. It takes place frequently. The floor is putted in the afternoon, in the evening happens the event, and overnight they take the floor out. We work the horses at the following morning like nothing happened ;-)

  2. I thought already, that it would have been like something like this...! It really looks very nice and classy!

It would not have been the first time that the "Winterreitschule" was used for something completely different than riding! Some years ago for the summer piano-concerts, but f.e. in ancient times the ridinghall even was the place where the first national assembly took place (1848)!

  3. Now, that is absolutely beautiful ! Suffice to say I'll pass up on booking it for my birthday next year. :) Having organised a few Annual Balls for the company I work for I would have gone for this venue in an instant ! It really is stunning. I know the Salons are available but the riding hall itself..wow.

  4. Atjan, thank you for posting that picture - it's beautiful!

I heard that there is going to be a ball next year - I think in February? - in the Winterreitschule. That would be fabulous to go to! Imagine... waltzing in the Winterreitschule... a dream come true. :) Honestly, it's hard to sit still during some of the waltzes that are played during Morgenarbeit - they're so lovely - and I'll admit I've daydreamed about how wonderful it would be to be able to dance to them in that beautiful hall. :-)

  5. What an amazing place to celebrate any part of life!! The salons on their own are very wonderful, but in combination with the riding hall, it is stupendously gorgeous. The architecture, the wonderful art works, the feeling of the glory of the Hapsburg Empire. Absolutely priceless. (But available!!) :-)
