I agree with you on that Ermine ! A very youthful Eder indeed. It also enlightened me as to how Mr. O'Brien began his training all those years ago and I never knew that Herr Kottas was a "Baron.." Maybe Andreas could tell us who the Count was. I'm so curious... ;-)
It is good to take a look at the old things. Last week I scanned some pics from a tour programme from the 1980's and pictured is a very young and handsome Siglavy Mantua Eins.
The Hoyos-dynasty was very ancient Spanish nobility (since the 9th century) which came along with the Spanish Habsburgs, (and their horses....) to Vienna. Like Emperor Ferdinand I (1503-1564) and Emperor Charles VI (1685-1740).
Although the nobility was officially discharged in Austria after 1919, the old noble families still exist. During the last decades they are showing their original titles again. The present Count Hoyos is living in their castle in Lower Austria. See: http://www.rosenburg.at/?ID=schloss&sID=hausherr. Also Schloss Hoyos in Gutenstein is still owned by the family, just as Schloss Schwertberg. Hotel Bristol in Vienna used to be one of the city palaces of the family in imperial times
In which way former SRS-Bereiter Ernst Hoyos is a directly connected to this family, I do not know. The name Ernst however traditionally belongs to this family.
oh God yes, now I remember, I went there a couple of years back. We were staying at a Bauernhof / Winzer near to Eggenburg, so it's near the Weinviertel it in NiederOe. Amazing place. The falconry exhibit was stunning. Gardens beautiful. I have pics somewhere... Thanks Atjan, you are a star !
