Charon takes first place with his Lipizzaners

Yes! last night in Bordeaux Chardon got his first first place with his Lipizzaners. He got a 9 seconds faster ride with a first place before wildcard rider Daniel Wurgler!! 9 seconds is very much in de driving sport!! Chardon was very pleased with the ride and said it was easy going, the horses responded correctly and gave him a great feeling. Chardon feels like he's back!

What a great news it is, isn't it? In such a sort time! I think it's a very good promotion for the Lipizzaners horses!

  10. Maskenbal don't blame me when you are not any better: "Comment deleted at the request of the author."

And I'm not afraid of you, I get annoyed. So please hold your comment to yourself, the only one you make a fool of is yourself. Your comment has absolutely nothing to do with this blog!
If you think that you can tell me what I can or cannot do, you are wrong again!

So, I will not respond to you any further than this. You don't even have the respect to answer in English, unfortunately for you I speak German as well. So go and amuse someone else because I will love to delete your notes before I read them.

  13. I hope to see Chardon and his Lipizzaners in real live at another competition. As you see how little number of Lipizzaners there are in Holland and how many are doing so good in the competition driving sport, it makes me proud!
Not only now at Chardons stable, but I name a Wil Smit and a Han Gankema who drive with de Lipizzaner horse and doing so good! We are going to train with our tandem pony's at Lipizzaner tandem driver Han Gankema this month. I'm really looking forward to that!

  14. Ok, back to the original subject of this item ;-)

Last week I was asked to write an article in a national magazine about a recent scientific research project, which proves and explains why Lipizzaner horses are so good for the highest level of driving sport competition ! I will receive the data soon. I am very curious.... but not surprised ;-)

Did you know that especially in the 19th century the skills of the Lipizzaner horses as noble driving horse for long distance made their reputation ?! The use in the SRS was always only a very small utility goal for the Lipizzaners. In the 19th century most of them were used as driving horse. For the imperial court, but also for the other nobility. (There were in those times only 20-30 stallions in the SRS, but hundreds of them in the imperial stables in Vienna...- the 90 broodmares of Lippiza "delivered" a lot imperial working horses, for noble transportation)

But especially the Lipizzaners which were bred in the private studs of the high ranked nobility within the Austro-Hungarian empire were quite famous. Esterhazy, Pallavicini, and many other nobility, but more over the Jankovic-family bred very good Lipizzaner horses as well.

The world record for a specific distance within one hour is still standing... since 1898... for Lipizzaner pair of Count Jankovic, in a bet to drive from his palace in Terezovac/Suhopolje to Varazdin and back.... He won the bet.... and the Lipizzaners made it without any problem ;-)

So it is almost a wonder, that Mr. Chardon has discovered only recently the quality of this old noble breed.... ;-)

  15. I knew that mostly in Hungary the Lipizzaners were used as carriage horses, but I always enjoy reading anything from the history of the Lipizzaner horse. Thank you so much for sharing.
I wonder what is the magazine you're going to write the article in? Mensport perhaps? I would love to read it.

  16. I am curious too. What sort of data is it?

I hope it addresses not only the Lipizzaners' incredible athleticism, but also intelligence -- and devotion to their handlers. A vital combination, I think (from my short and limited experience with the sport) in any driving horse.

In any case, it will be nice to have "proof." But you are right, it is no surprise to those that already know the Lipizzaner. :)
