She is of Dutch origin and her first name is "Joke" , She lived in Rotterdam and she was called most of the time "Jook'. She was married to a gentleman named: Johan Robert "Joop" Carp in Holland. Mr. "Joop" was a Dutch multy Olympic medal winner in the class six and half meter sailing yachts and a International businessman. He was a good friend of HRH Prince Bernard of the Netherlands. They did meet for the first time after the sailing contests were the friend of the Dutch Prince Herr Udo Frank-Rosenthal was placed fourth at the Berlin Olympic sailing events.that were held in Kiel. After the last Olympic Polo games on horseback were played there was a great closing cermony were represantatives from the bussines wordl and sportsmen did meat.
After "Jook" and "Joop" were divorced , "Joop" did move to South Afica and died there in 1962. After she arrived in the UK,Johanna Carp became Mrs J.S. Hall after marrying the owner of the Fulmer school of equitation. The Fulmer School of Equitation, Nr. Gerrards Cross, Bucks was closed down in the early 90s and now has a function hall on the old site of the bottom indoor school. The former owner Robert Hall trained out there. He did introduce the "Fulmer snaffle" in Great Britain."Fulmer snaffle" is almost a straight copy of the "Wiener Wischtrense". The function and actions of that bit one can see and study during the work on the long reins during almost every performance of the Lipizzaner stallions at the Hofburg . Robert Hall has been a long year privilged private student at the SRS in Vienna.under Colonel Alois Podhajsky. "Jook" has been a friend of my ridingteacher.Mrs.Inge Schram - van Kalmthout who was student of the priviliged German private pupil of the SRS Herr Richard Wätjen. She rode also under Colonel Géza von Hazslinszky-Krull, who was `Hofrat` at the Hungarian SRS in Budapest(1932-1945) and `Futtermeister´of the second Hungarian SRS (1953-1958) in Mezöhegyes.
Podhajsky and Mr. and Mrs. Hall did have very good "connections" with the directors of the SRS in Vienna and in Budapest. Those "connections" with Johan Robert "Joop" Carp, the ex husband of Mrs. Hall, dated from the times as allied VIP's were able to perform "miracles " with white stallions at the end of WWII.
Very lovely! Thank you so much for posting these pictures. Riders and horses are outstanding!
