2011 Coaching Lipizzaner from Sambata de Jos Stud Farm.

From a recent visit to a Romanian exhibition. Romania has the largest herd of colored Lipizzaners.
Some of these photos came from Dr. Daniela Stanica, who is a Director the the Romanian Government Horse Breeding Stud Farms.

  1. I have a few more to add. I've asked the Romanian Lipizzaner Breeding Director to join the page.

  2. This is taken in Lipica in 1970's or very early 1980's, a very famous photo that was often used for promotion at the time. From left: Klavdij Maver, Dusan Mavec, Stojan Moderc... The next might be rider Turk. About horses Atjan could say more...

  3. Yes, indeed this picture contain the riders of Lipica in the late '70-ies! Not of Sambata de Jos!

I do not know the horses which are shown on this picture exactly. This is just a promotional picture of the (then Yugoslavian) studfarm Lipica. They could have used any stallion for that!

In those times the mentioned riders had several stallions to ride every day. Among them, there was the stallion which they used for international dressage. Those names I remember, those horses I can recall.

In the early 80-ies Klavdij had a Conversano and a Favory on GP-level. Dusan rode Pluto Canissa, Stojan Maestoso Allegra, Alojz Maestoso Monteaura, Ladi Favory Wera. Etcetera.

And beside this, all had several other stallions in training, and to be used in the show. Just like in the SRS. F.e. Marjan Turk (the 4th in the picture) was the rider of Conversano Trompeta (the sire of Conversano Dagmar of Andreas)

But this picture was taken at the end of the 70-ies. A generation of stallions before, so to say.

  5. "Not of Sambata de Jos! " I did not say it was from Sambata de Jos, I said I took the photo from a picture hanging in the office of Herghelia Jegalia. Just for clearification. Thanks for the information about the photo, atjanh.

  6. We have added new photos from the 2011 Romanian Lipizzaner National Driving show. Romania has the largest herd of black Lipizzaners in the world today. They also have the most colored Lipizzaners at their State Stud farms of Sambata de Jos and Beclean. Sambata de Jos was established in 1874. Beclean was established in the 70's. They also have 4 stallion depot though out Romanian that stand stallions of all Romanian breeds and usually have one Lipizzaner at each, for local breeders to use.
