super! So good to see 67 pictures, long before I ever visited. It is so great to have Slovenia open, and Lipica so close to Trieste! Such a lovely and historic place. Thank you.
I like this foto, where the rider is bringing his horse up the stairs. We have an Arabian, 22 years old now, who will go up stairs, into the house and walk around, and very much enjoys doing so. :-))
They have great Lipizzaners in Lipica. Sometimes in type slightly different than those from Piber, (due to different selection criteria) but nevertheless perfectly fitting within the frame of the breed. A breeding exchange between Piber and Lipica is always very successful !
During the last decades several Piber stallions were used in Lipica: Maestoso Bonavoja, Pluto Navarra, Favory Dubovina (1964), Siglavy Africa, Neapolitano Primavera, and recently Conversano Toscana II.
And in 1987 Conversano Trompeta XII from Lipica was used in Piber. Andreas' famous Conversano Dagmar is a son of his! (And also C.Toscana II, mentioned above).
Beside this, several mares from Lipica came to Piber. Like 88 Dubovina XX, the dam of Andreas' Favory Dubovina. And 89 Allegra XXXVI, the dam of Rudi Rostek's Neapolitano Allegra.
In the back you can see the Velbanca (read: velbantsa) stable, the oldest stable in Lipica, built in 1703. This is the most important building of the stud farm, where some of the breeding stallions are held. The stable got it's name after the vaulted ceiling (in common slovenian: velban strop). Above the entrance where you see a painted white horse's head, there used to be an imperial coat of arms.

AntwortenLöschenNo, this is definitely not Favory Dubovina-4 from Piber! F.Dubovina-4 from Piber was in Lipica in 1985/1986. This picture is much older!
AntwortenLöschenAgain, sorry for confusing info!
AntwortenLöschenThat horse could be 330 F.Dubovina II
