Siglavy capriola @ a education dressage demo!

This weekend i gave a clinic education day about dressage with Siglavy capriola! Ziggy did a perfect job, showing people how to ride dressage by showing how not to do and how to do good! It was a good education for the younger people explaining them about the different between modern dressage and classical! They all prefer Classical at the end of the day :-)))

  1. I am VERY pleased to hear people prefer the Classical way!!! It is such a contentious (sp?) issue at present... and more people need to realise Classical is really the only way - tried and tested :)

  3. Thank you all, i am very proud on him, he is getting a big boy :-)) and long live classical dressage where horses can grow and getting stronger by years and not by days ;-)

  4. The Piaffe is an example for a perfect classical Piaffe with exemplary good carriage, noseline slightly in front of the vertical, exellent collected and uphill frame and wonderfull active hunches steping under the point of gravity. Great Thamar!

  5. I just love these pictures! I wish we could see more of this in competition life. I hear judges having tons of "reasons" to explain good notes for non-classical performances, yet what we see on these pictures is the ony way for dressage to be horse-friendly and look nice! I just love it.

  6. @ Andreas, thank you so much! I am really working so hard for it, and also thank you again for teaching me!

@ avodnik, I do competitions with the stallions and depends the judges if they like it or not. Most times when i have older judges the points are high because they come from a classical time but if i have the younger generation as a judge then or they don't look very uninterested or stupid points with comments on it like ???? because they don't know what real dressage is. They only know the modern dressage!

I hope to ride some competitions this summer but with my busy agenda at the moment it is hard to find the time.
But to be honest, i prefer to give this kind of days and showing people what dressage is and the people are positief and also the applause give me good feeling then. Then that i go to a competition and that a young judge is telling me how to ride a horse in modern dressage. No way!!! But next year when i come back from apassionata i will go to start again in competing with all stallions, and fighting for the beautiful classical dressage to keep it alive and showing people that classical is the only way to keep the horse alive and ass a friend!

  7. Great pictures ! Thamar you do a great job to show this. And I hope that the judges in Holland see this classical way of dressage. And not only give the points to modern dressage !!! It's a difficult way for you to do it but I have a lot off respect for you and your horses !!!

  8. I remember the time when all was the same: Classical Dressage and competition....times has been changing,
"Matinee" and " Totilas"...(sorry, atjanh !!!!), Siglavy Capriola is a light in darkness! Bravissimo!

  9. Why sorry to me ??? ;-) Because I am Dutch, and Totilas is a Dutch bred warmblood ?1?! ;-P

No, I think that Totilas is simply a very good horse, with a magnificent workable character. That is what counts for me.
And Edward Gal is really a very good rider, no doubt about that. Not because he is Dutch.

But... modern dressage competition sport is simply not my type of sport. Too extreme, from the perspective of the natural skills of a horse. And that is what counts in Classical Dressage: to improve and beautify the natural physical and psychical characteristics of the horse. Riding towards the edges of these capacities is dangerous, riding over the edges of these edges is intolerable.

Let's wait and see what Mathias Rath will show us with Totilas. That poor fellow has an obligation to fulfill....: he did not train Totilas, he is not so experienced as Edward Gal, he is not riding according to the "system" in which Totilas was trained.... and yet Mathias is supposed to perform with Totilas at least the same as Edward did..... poor guy.

I am very curious what will happen with this combination. Do you know who one of the trainers of Mathias Rath is.....??? Oberbereiter Hans Riegler of the SRS ! Very interesting !!!
