Good evening everyone,
Please log onto www.metro.co.uk then go to the search bar and type in Queen + Lipizzaner.
Yesterday, Our Queen was presented with the most beautiful gift of a sixteen year old Lipizzan stallion at the famous stud in Lipica. Sadly the horse will remain there and not join her many horses stabled at the Royal Mews in London. You may already know what a devoted horse woman she is and that she takes the opportunity to ride most days.
Karen, in Manchester, England.
Sadly for HM the Queen, the stallion will stay in Lipica. But fortunately for the breed, because this stallion is most important for the breed !! His official name is 085 Favory Canissa XXII. He is one of the best (perhaps the best) stallion of stud Lipica, and the only present Lipizzaner stallion, who performs on the highest level of the international dressage competition. The "Invasor" of the Lipizzaner breed! His grandfather was Favory Dubovina from Piber (the old one from 1964, not the present riding horse of Andreas). Because his pedigree, his quality and his achievements, he also may be interesting to be used as a breeding stallion in Piber. See official pictures: http://www.sta.si/en/foto.php?nid=1331122 I think, it is a clever decision of Stud Lipica to give this stallion to HM the Queen, and let him stay in Lipica. Now it is "hers", and can never be sold or disappear. What ever future developments in the stud will be. I hope to see the stallion perform in the Grand Prix etc. during the Olympics 2012 in London ;-) Atjan
