  1. Today is the 23rd of October. Tonight there will be a gala performance in favour of Don Alvaro Domecq Romero in the Spanish Ridingschool in Vienna.

Mr Domecq (1940) is the founder of the Royal Andalusian Ridingschool in Jerez. He is a well known high school rider and "rejoneador". His stud delivers the most excellent Spanish Purebred horses (PRE's), his bodega the most excellent sherry, wine and brandy.

For his skills and dedication to the classical high school dressage ("Alta Escuela") he will be honored in the Spanish Ridingschool in Vienna tonight. As an old student of Vienna, he is also well known in the Austrian capital.
He brought some Andalusian stallions and riders with him from Spain. A combined (closed...) performance will take place tonight in the "Winterreitschule" !

Unfortunately I was not be able to go to Vienna... but I hope Andreas can provide us pictures!!

    Regards,
    Atjan

  2. Sounds like a lovely, memorable event.  Pictures would be great.   What an honor for Sr. Domecq!   I was reading about him a little.. he's had quite a lot of tragedy in his life. Out of 19 children born to his parents, only he and a sister survived.  14 died due to his mother being Rh negative, one sister died during a blood transfusion, a brother died at age 4 months of dystentery, and a 6 year old brother died in a riding accident.  Really sad.   Atjan, have you been to the Royal Andalusian School before, and if so, do you have advice with RE: visiting there?  My family and will be spending 2 weeks in Andalusia over Christmas and New Year's and would love to visit Jerez.    Best regards,   jorie (and Conversano Blanca I RIP)
